We celebrate J.S. Bach’s birthday month—and Early Music America’s Early Music Month—with another iteration of our beloved annual coffeehouse concerts. This year’s program includes two Paris Quartets by Bach’s dear friend and illustrious colleague Georg Philipp Telemann. Scored for flute, violin, cello, and continuo, these quartets were likely performed at Bach’s own coffeehouse series at Café Zimmermann in Leipzig and may have inspired the French composer Louis-Gabriel Guillemain’s own set of Opus 12 Flute Quartets. Flutist Taya König-Tarasevich and harpsichordist Jason J. Moy round out the program with Bach’s towering B Minor Flute Sonata, BWV 1030.
