Announcing Our 2019 – 2020 Season!

Bach to Bach:  The Complete Sonatas for Viola da Gamba and Harpsichord
All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 4550 N. Hermitage Ave., Chicago

     Ars Musica Chicago kicks off our 2019-20 season with an intimate candlelight concert at historic All Saints’ Episcopal Church, Chicago’s oldest wood frame church.  Don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience Johann Sebastian Bach’s complete sonatas for harpsichord and viola da gamba, performed back to back by Ars Musica Chicago’s Artistic Director, harpsichordist Jason J. Moy, and one of the city’s most acclaimed Early Music specialists, violist da gamba Anna Steinhoff.

This one-hour program will be presented without intermission. Admission is FREE; a free-will donation will be collected at the door.  Map.

An Evening at Café Zimmermann:  Bach Coffeehouse Concert
St. Chrysostom’s Episcopal Church, 1424 N. Dearborn Pkwy., Chicago

     One of J.S. Bach’s greatest joys in life was directing and writing chamber music for the Collegium Musicum, a group of professional colleagues and students that regularly presented informal concerts at Gottfried Zimmermann’s coffeehouse in Leipzig.  Join us for our 4^th annual Bach Coffeehouse Concert, on the eve of Bach’s 335^th birthday, as we recreate one of casual evenings of chamber music with works by Bach, Handel, Telemann, and others.  Enjoy a complimentary cup of tea or a glass of wine by the fireside, and let us take you on a musical journey to the cozy confines of Café Zimmermann.  Admission is FREE; a free-will donation will be collected at the door.  Map.

At Beethoven’s Hearth:  A 250^th Birthday Celebration
All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 4550 N. Hermitage Ave., Chicago

     Join us for a special celebration marking Ludwig van Beethoven?s 250^th birthday!  Born in 1770, Beethoven presided over the transition from the Classical to Romantic eras and forever changed the course of music history with his groundbreaking compositions and revolutionary spirit.  Ars Musica Chicago joins musicians around the globe to commemorate this momentous ‘Beethoven Year’ with a period instrument performance of his seminal song cycle, An die ferne Geliebte, featuring celebrated soprano Hannah De Priest and fortepianist Michael Pecak.  Prize-winning Cleveland-based violinist Allison Monroe, and Rochester-based cellist Cora Swenson Lee join them for a selection of instrumental chamber works, including Beethoven’s lively g-minor Cello Sonata, Op. 5 Nr. 2.  Admission is FREE; a free-will donation will be collected at the door.  Map.
